How to find a Beach Home!

Is this the year you are going to take advantage of great interest rates and low property values and either move to the beach or buy that second home?  You are smart.

First step:  Talk to a lender to see what you qualify for.  If you are buying a second home talk to your tax advisor about some great tax benefits of owning a second home.

Second step:  If you own a home now that you plan to sell.  Research second mortgages or equity loans to enable you to purchase the beach home.  Or get it listed with a good Realtor.

Third Step:  Narrow down where you want to be.

Things to consider when selecting an area..

1- Weather/climate

2- Ease of travel for you, your family and friends

3- Other activities besides the water that are available

4- Cost/ Affordability

5- Medical Facilities

 

Let’s look at Carolina Beach,NC .   The location is on the southern coast of North Carolina.  It is part of the greater Wilmington area which features Historic Downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.   The average hi  temperature is 88 in July.  The average lo is 22 in January. Wilmington International Airport has flights with American Airlines and Delta.  Wilmington is a college town with University of North Carolina Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College.  Wilmington also has many festivals.. the Azalea Festival, the Cucaloris Festival, the Seafood Blues and Jazz Festival and many more ! Carolina Beach  is investing in the boardwalk and development.  People are investing in land and homes. Businesses like Harris Teeter are moving onto the island… and a new hotel is just nearing completion.   It is still one of the few “affordable” beach islands on the East Coast!   Example:  Bimini Townes  are brand new luxury townhomes featuring 3+ bedrooms, 4 baths with over 2000 sq.ft…they are the best price per sq.ft. for new construction in Carolina Beach… and sell for $ 294,900 – $ 315,000
